Reliance is expected to announce commercial operation of GigaFiber broadband and JioPhone 3 at its annual general body meeting scheduled on August 12, Indiatoday.in reported.
Recently, Reliance Jio had confirmed completion of GigaFiber’s test phase and its launch soon.
Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani had announced rolling out GigaFiber to 1,600 cities across India after Jio had successfully tested beta operations in selected cities.
In the beta test phase under the Preview Offer, Jio charges Rs 4,500 security fee from consumers for them to enjoy 100GB of data at speeds of 100Mbps.
The subscriptions of GigaFiber, which has been in trial services for almost a year, will begin from as low as Rs 500.
Jio apparently is testing a new Triple Play Plan, which will come with a validity of 28 days and offer up to 100GB of data along with an offer of free voice calling. Subscribers will also get access to Jio Home TV subscription and Jio Apps.
Besides data benefits, Jio will also bundle a complimentary landline connection for free calls, akin to Jio’s telecom service.
Rumours are also high around the announcement of JioPhone 3 this AGM, since every year Reliance announces new phone models.
Sources say the phone has been developed by MediaTek having KaiOS platform.
Jio also has been hinting about its TV service, GigaTV, ever since the rollout of its GigaFiber plan. It is expected to revolutionise television services, which will be offered through IPTV technological platform, which is different from the conventional DTH technology.
GigaTV will enable streaming of TV channels over GigaFiber’s fiber network, which will offer high resolution streaming with HD audio. It will also offer standard 600 channels.
