‘Dada’ Sourav Ganguly donned a new hat on Wednesday. The mercurial and often vocal..former Indian cricket captain took over as the new boss of BCCI today and will steer the ship for the next nine months beginning on Wednesday.
‘Many stalwarts have occupied this chair as was ahead of my stint as India skipper…and has left me with the challenge ofbringing in positive reforms. And I want to live upto it…’ said 47-year old Ganguly.
It may be recalled that for over two and half years BCCI was run by a panel nominated by Supreme Court and badly needed a cricketing administer to take over and steady the rocking ship. And Ganguly has a big challenge on hand.
India as a cricketing nationbrings 70₹ of the revenue into the ICC coffers. But has lost its”powers’ to other nations namely England and Australia in recent times.
India’s triumphant March in Test cricket may make things easier for Ganguly – or may even thrust a few hurdles. But Ganguly has the prowess to handle the issues. “My road map is clear…besides safe guarding India’s interest at the international level my focus will be on taking first class cricket in India to another level’ prioritised Ganguly.
Knowing the dapper south paw”s astute leadership qualities the turn around is just round the corner
